LONDON (AP) _ Switzerland's Fabian Cancellara
(kan-cheh-LAHR'-uh) won today's opening prologue of the Tour de
France. Cycling's premier event began with a distinct British
accent. The four-point-nine-mile time trial was raced through
Cancellara also won the Tour prologue in 2004.
Germany's Andreas Kloeden (AHN'-dree-uhs KLOH'-dihn) was the
runner-up, with U-S rider George Hincapie (HIN'-kap-ee) finishing
The 2007 Tour is being contested under a cloud of doping
suspicions that threatens all of cycling.
Floyd Landis of the U-S is not on hand. He's still appealing a
positive doping test that cost him his 2006 title.
