Tampa Bay Loses to Yankees

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) _ Bobby Abreu (ah-BRAY'-oo) homered
and drove in a season-high five in the New York Yankees' 6-to-4 win
over Tampa Bay. Chien-Ming Wang won his seventh straight decision
to go to 10-and-4.
Abreu hit a two-run homer in the fifth inning. Hideki Matsui
also went deep for the Yankees.
Tampa Bay rookie Andy Sonnanstine fell to 1-and-4. Carlos Pena
hit his 21st homer for Tampa Bay in the eighth inning, a solo shot
off Kyle Farnsworth that trimmed New York's lead to 5-to-4.
Mariano Rivera came on to get the final three outs to move past
John Franco for third place on the career saves list with 425. It
was Rivera's 12th save in 14 opportunities this season.
