Kuijken Named ACC Scholar Athlete Of The Year
Four others earn ACC All-Academic honors

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Headed by Florida State's Susan Kuijken, 10 All-Conference honorees, including four All-Americans, secured spots on the 2009 All-Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Women's Cross Country Team as announced today by Commissioner John D. Swofford.
To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during her academic career.
The 2009 ACC Scholar Athlete of the Year for Women's Cross Country, Kuijken captured her third-straight ACC individual title this past fall, completing the 6K course in 19:39.3 as the Seminoles out-distanced runner-up Duke by 34 points en route to their third consecutive ACC title. A senior Sociology major and a four-time All-American in cross country, the Nijmegen, Netherlands native placed third at the NCAA Championship in Terre Haute, Ind.
"Susan has recieved many honors, awards and recognitions as an athlete, but winning academic awards such as this proves that Florida State continues to produce leaders in classroom and in athletics," women's cross country coach Karen Harvey said. "Susan was an incredible role model for everyone on the team and has set the bar high for future Seminoles."
Joining Kuijken on the 24-member squad from the Seminoles were Pasca Cheruiyot, Jennifer Dunn, Jessica Parry and Amanda Winslow.
