MIAMI (AP) _ The Miami Dolphins have released quarterback Daunte
Culpepper. It ends his short stint with the N-F-L franchise and
wraps up what became a contentious split between the player and the
Miami tried for weeks to trade the former Minnesota Vikings star
they acquired before the 2006 season even though he was coming off
major knee surgery. Culpepper never regained his form, struggling
in four games before the team shut him down so he could continue
rehabilitating the knee.
Shortly after Miami's offseason trade with Kansas City for
quarterback Trent Green, club officials informed Culpepper he
couldn't fully participate in offseason practices. A grievance on
that matter, filed by the N-F-L Players Association on Culpepper's
behalf, is scheduled to be heard tomorrow.
