It's been an up and down few months since the Rattlers basketball squad advanced to the play-in game for the NCAA Tournament after winning the MEAC Title. Since then head coach Mike Gillespie has been arrested, then suspended, the man in charge of keeping the program afloat none other than his son Mike Gillespie Jr.

Junior has had his hands full, traveling the country... on an 11-day 8 city tour, to recruit fresh Rattlers who can bring in the team's next championship.

It has been a trying time for the Rattlers, but Mike Junior has offered a resilience keeping his business and personal life separate while doing his best for the program.

Of course, it makes life easier, when he can boast a winning team.

"We did lose 4 very good seniors, three starters, and a guy off the bench, that provided very good leadership. So our newcomers have to do a great job, but recruits know that you've been to the NCAA tournament 2 out of the last 4 years, recruits know that you've won 21 games last year and that certainly sells itself," says Mike Gillespie Jr.
