It's a big weekend for many legends of the sports world this weekend as the college football Hall of Fame is ready to officially enshrine the careers of college superstars such as Emmitt Smith and more locally Charlie Ward , Bobby Bowden, and Billy Joe.
Billy Joe was a superstar in his college days for Villanova, leading his squad to the 1961 Sun Bowl Championship.
He then enjoyed plenty of success as a coach after playing for the New York Jets.
He led the FAMU Rattlers to 237 victories, and while many remember him leaving a losing program thanks to an untimely move to Division-1, overall he ranks second in wins at a Historic Black College.. Something only the legendary Eddie Robinson beats.
"Of course some coaches are getting it posthumously. I'm glad that's not happening, but I was very excited and pleasantly surprised to have gotten it on the first round, three years after retirement," says Billy Joe.
