PINEHURST, N.C. (AP) - Georgia Tech has been picked to finish second in the Atlantic Coast Conference Coastal Division behind Virginia Tech, which was picked by media members to win the ACC championship.
Florida State was picked to bounce back from a shaky season and win the league's Atlantic Division title. Boston College was second in Atlantic division voting among those at the league's annual media days at Pinehurst, North Carolina.
The Hokies were the clear preseason favorite to win the ACC, earning 69 of 83 possible votes to win the league championship game.
The Hokies return eight starters on offense and eight more from a defense that ranked first nationally last year by allowing just under 220 yards per game.
In the Coastal Division, Miami was picked third behind Georgia Tech's four first-place votes, followed by Virginia, North Carolina and Duke.
In the Atlantic, after Florida State and Boston College with 25 first-place votes, the sequence was Clemson, Wake Forest, Maryland and North Carolina State.
The division winners will meet in the league's third annual title game, scheduled for December 1st in Jacksonville.
