GREENSBORO, N.C. (AP) - Georgia Tech running back Tashard Choice and linebacker Phillip Wheeler have been selected for the 2007 All-Atlantic Coast Conference preseason team.
Choice also got six votes among 79 media members for preseason player of the year, which was won by Boston College quarterback Matt Ryan.
Ryan, a senior who threw for 2,900 yards with 15 touchdowns, earned 31 of the ballots cast during the recent ACC Kickoff preseason event in Pinehurst. Virginia Tech running back Branden Ore was second with 21 votes, according to results released today.
The Hokies had a league-best five selections to the 2007 all-conference team.
Also selected were Virginia Tech offensive tackle Duane Brown, linebackers Xavier Adibi and Vince Hall, and cornerback Brandon Flowers on the all-league team in voting by 49 media members.
3 FSU Seminoles were selected for the Preseason All-ACC Team. Wide receiver Greg Carr, defensive tackle Andre Fluellen, and safety Myron Rolle were the trio representing the Garnet & Gold. 3 Miami Hurricanes and 2 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets also were on the list.
