FSU's Young Qualifies for Olympic Trials, Seminoles Release 2007-2008 Schedule

Indianapolis, Ind.- Senior Kyle Young qualified for the 2008 Olympic Trials Wednesday in the 1,500 freestyle at the 2007 ConocoPhillips National Championships in Indianapolis, Ind.

Young finished fourth overall in the event with a time of 15:22.75. The Olympic Trials will be held June 29 to July 6, 2008 in Omaha, Neb.

The Oviedo, Fla. native is coming off his best season as a Seminole. Young took All-American honors at the NCAA Championships finishing seventh in the 1,500 free. The Seminole freestyle specialist was also named ACC Championship MVP as he led FSU to their first ACC Championship in school history.

Also on Wednesday, Florida State swimming and diving released their 2007-2008 schedule highlighted by six home meets and a trip to defending National Champion Auburn.

The Seminoles will kick-off their season on Friday September 21 at home with the FSU Pentathlon. The following week FSU will give fans a sneak peak at this season's entire team at the annual Garnet & Gold meet.

FSU will welcome six additional schools to Tallahassee during the 2007-2008 season. Miami, FAMU, LSU, FIU, Florida Gulf Coast and FAU will all travel to Tallahassee during the season.

Florida State's first road and conference tests will come on October 13 when the Seminoles travel to Atlanta, Ga. to face conference opponents Clemson and Georgia Tech. Non-conference foe Alabama will also be part of the same meet.

Perhaps FSU's toughest test will be their February 9 trip to Auburn to tangle with the Tigers.
The Auburn men have won five straight National Championships, while the women have won back-to-back titles.

The Seminole men will be looking to defend their first ACC crown at the Men's ACC Championships February 27 thru March 1. The Women's ACC Championships will be held a week earlier, February 20-23. Both events will be in Atlanta, Ga.

The swimming and diving season will conclude with the NCAA Championships. The woman will compete March 20-22 in Columbus, Ohio, while the men will have their chance March 27-29 in Federal Way, Wash.
