Melvin Ray says he's happy to have already made his choice for college because "i can enjoy just being a senior, enjoy being a teenager again before it's time for me to take off."
Ray has been blazing a trail of success on the football field as a wide receiver, defensive back and kick returner. Now the North Florida Christian senior knows where he'll be hitting new trails - Alabama, as the 6' 3" playmaker has verbally committed to play for the Crimson Tide and new head coach Nick Saban.
"We loved it. There's a lot of history there. My parents loved it. Everyone there loved it so I just started feeling more like part of the family."
When asked if Ray felt comfortable with coach Saban since the new leader of the tide has jilted ex-employers including most recently the Miami Dolphins.
Ray adds, "Nick Saban, when I talked to him says he loves it. He loves Alabama. You know it crossed my mind, but at the same time where trust comes in. He could be doing what any other coach says.Tthey can tell you this or that but that's recruiting."
Melvin Ray has had to feel the pressures with choosing schools since he played hoops for Godby High before becoming a star at Lawton Chiles. and now he looks forward to taking his games to new heights under the watchful eye of head coach Casey Weldon at North Florida Christian.
Ray says, "I never feel like it's enough. I always want to be an animal on the field."
Eagles fans can look forward to Ray unleashing his beastly dominance this fall.
