Culpepper Signs With Oakland Raiders

DAVIE, Fla. (AP) - Daunte Culpepper has a chance to resurrect his career with Oakland, and fellow quarterback Trent Green is happy for him.

Green applaudes Culpepper's decision to sign a one-year deal this week with the Raiders. Green was acquired by the Miami Dolphins in the offseason, ending Culpepper's brief and injury-marred stint in South Florida.

Culpepper began 2006 as Miami's starter but struggled as he continued to recover from reconstructive knee surgery after an injury the previous season with the Minnesota Vikings. The Dolphins held him out so he could continue rehabbing and placed him on
injured reserve.

When Green arrived in a trade with the Kansas City Chiefs, the Dolphins tried for weeks to trade Culpepper, eventually releasing him.

Culpepper is expected to help groom number one overall pick JaMarcus Russell, who still hasn't signed with Oakland. The Raiders play at Miami on September 30th.
