ATLANTA (AP) _ The NBA finally is giving the Atlanta Hawks the
chance to play their first game at home.
For the first time in seven years, the Hawks will play their
season-opening game at home when they face MVP Kirk Nowitzki and
the Dallas Mavericks on November second.
The Hawks, who have missed the playoffs eight straight seasons,
will have an opportunity for a strong start as they play six of
their first nine games in Atlanta.
The Hawks will play host to the Phoenix Suns on November seventh
and the NBA champion San Antonio Spurs on November 20th.
Eastern Conference champion Cleveland will visit Atlanta on
January ninth and February eighth.
Portland and Number One draft pick Greg Oden will play in
Atlanta on January 21st.
The Hawks will open training camp on October second.
