Camp Carter: Year 3 Begins Sunday

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The 2007 Florida A&M Football season is afoot with the Rattlers reporting to training camp on Sunday, August 5 at the Gallimore-Powell Field House, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

From Aug. 6 through Aug. 9 will be the acclamation period with the Rattlers practicing in helmets and shorts each day 3:45 p.m.

FAMU's first practice in pads will be on Aug. 10 at 8:45 a.m.
The Rattlers will begin two-a-day practices on Aug. 11 at 8:45 a.m. and 3:45 p.m.

FAMU will hold two-a-day practices on Aug. 13, 15, 17, 20, 22, 24, at 8:45 a.m. and 3:45 p.m., and will hold single day practices on Aug. 14, 16, 21, 23. at 3:45 p.m.

The Rattlers will hold their first scrimmage of camp on Saturday, Aug. 18 at 2:30 p.m. and will have their annual Mock Game on, Saturday, Aug. 25 at 2:30 p.m., in Bragg Memorial Stadium.

FAMU was selected to finished fifth in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference, by the MEAC Coaches and Sports Information Director, with Albert Chester, II, (QB) (Jacksonville, Fla.), Willie Hayward, (WR) (Miami, Fla.); Justin Delancy (OL) (Jensen Beach, Fla.); Vernon Wilder (LB), (Miami, Fla.), and Wesley Taylor (P/PK) (Riverview, Fla.), all being named to the First Team Preseason All-MEAC.

The Rattlers will open the season against Southwestern Athletic Conference opponent Southern University in the third MEAC-SWAC Challenge at Legion Field in Birmingham, Ala., in a 3 p.m. EST kick.
