JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) - The Jacksonville Jaguars signed former Florida Gators punter Eric Wilbur Tuesday and released Tony Yelk.
Wilbur averaged 42.3 yards a punt for the national champions last season and signed as an undrafted free agent with Houston following the draft.
He spent the entire offseason with the Texans, then got released just before training camp when the team added veteran Matt Turk.
Wilbur replaces Yelk, who shanked a punt during the team's scrimmage Friday night, but remains a long shot to make the roster because the Jaguars used a fourth-round draft pick to get Adam Podlesh in April.
