Warner Robins Headed to Little League World Series

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) - A Little League team from Warner Robins defeated a squad from Alabama 10-9 tonight to earn a trip to the Little League World Series.

Warner Robins American won the Southeast Regional championship game in St. Petersburg, Florida, defeating Westside Little League from Mobile to advance to the World Series in South Williamsport, Pennsylvania, August 17th-26th.

This is the second straight year that a team from Georgia is in the Little League World Series.

Columbus Northern won the championship last year with a 2-1 win over Kawaguchi City, Japan.

A U.S. team hadn't won back-to-back Little League titles with different teams since 1982-83 when Kirkland, Washington, and a team from Marietta, Georgia, celebrated in South Williamsport. That Marietta team was the only other club from Georgia to make it to the tournament.
