ATLANTA (AP) - Former University of Georgia quarterback Eric Zeier will join Scott Howard on Georgia's radio broadcast team for road games this season.
Georgia athletic director Damon Evans announced plans today to replace longtime announcer Larry Munson on road games.
The 84-year-old Munson said in July that he plans to work only on home games this season.
Munson, who is entering his 42nd season, will continue to work with Howard, his partner since 1993, on home games. Loran Smith will continue his role as Tailgate Show co-host and sideline reporter for all games. Smith joins Neil Williamson as co-host of the pregame show.
Howard, already the play-by-play announcer for Georgia basketball, will assume the lead role on road football games. He'll remain the color analyst in home games.
Zeier completed his career at Georgia in 1994 with 67 school passing records and 18 Southeastern Conference marks. He played in the NFL from 1996-2001 for four teams, including a short stint with Atlanta.
He says he's excited and honored to be a part of the team broadcasting UGA's road games.
