Roger Federer Wins US Open

NEW YORK (AP) _ Roger Federer defeated third-seed Novak Djokovic
(dih-YOHK'-uh-vich) 7-6, 7-6, 6-4 to win his fourth straight U.S.
Open men's championship. The win gives Federer twelve Grand Slam
titles, two shy of the all-time record of 14 as held by Pete
Sampras.
The 26-year old Federer became the first man since Bill Tilden
in the 1920's to win the American Grand Slam four years in a row.
