Gainesville, FL - Forward/center Kenny Kadji has asked for, and
been granted his release from the University of Florida basketball
program head coach Billy Donovan announced Friday.

“After re-evaluating his situation, Kenny and I had the opportunity
to sit down and talk about his future,” said Donovan. “Kenny has
made a decision that it’s in his best interest to start new somewhere
else. He’s still recovering from back surgery and working hard to get
himself healthy. I wish him the best in his future.”

Kadji, who would have entered 2010-11 as a redshirt sophomore, was
granted a medical redshirt for the 2009-10 season after averaging 1.0
points and 0.8 rebounds per game in eight games before having back
surgery. Kadji appeared in 42 games in two years at UF, averaging 3.7
points and 2.3 rebounds per game.

“I want to thank my coaches and teammates for my two years at the
University of Florida,” said Kadji. “While I’m sad that my time
here at Florida is ending, UF will always be special to me. I have goals
that I hope to reach and only a short window of my life to make those
things happen.”
