Athens, GA - Georgia soccer goalkeeper Ashley Baker was named to the SEC Soccer Community Service Team, the league office announced Tuesday. The SEC sponsors community service teams for all 20 of its sponsored sports, looking to highlight a student-athlete from each school who gives back to his or her local community.

Baker has been active in the Athens community during her time as a member of the Georgia soccer team. The Lilburn, Ga., native has participated in several clinics for local youth including a recent session for Georgia Girl Scouts prior to the Bulldogs’ Oct. 3 contest vs. Vanderbilt. A total of 124 Girl Scouts in grades K-8 filled the Georgia practice fields and were awarded badges for their participation.

Baker’s additional service efforts include weekly trips to the Athens Boys & Girls Club and frequent visits with patients at St. Mary’s Hospital.

The sophomore netminder was instrumental to the team’s 11-6-4 season and place in the SEC Championships semifinals, starting all 21 games and posting nine shutouts.
