Jacksonville, Fla. - Tensions ran high between classic rivals Florida State and Florida last night, reaching a fever pitch with a bench-clearing brawl.

The fracas took place during the 8th inning in Tuesday night’s baseball game between the Seminoles and Gators.

It all started when Seminole's outfielder, DJ Stewart, hit a ball down the first base line, and collided with Florida's pitcher, Danny Young, while trying to run out the grounder.

After Stewart got on base, Florida infielder Zack Powers shoved him, which resulted in both benches emptying onto the field.

Jameis Winston took place in the heated altercation, and at one point had to be held back by a police officer.

No punches appeared to be thrown, but there was plenty of shoving and yelling.

Young, Powers, and Stewart were ejected from the game after the dust settled. Florida defeated No. 1 ranked Florida State, 4-1.
