Jackson, TN - Valdosta State put away Union Saturday, 1-0, to improve to 11-2-2 overall and 4-1-1 in the Gulf South Conference. Despite it being just a one goal differential, VSU dominated the match, not allowing the Bulldogs a single shot. With the loss, Union falls to 6-7-2 on the season and 1-5-2 in GSC play.
Valdosta State's Lauren Hale scored the first goal of her career when freshman forward Erin Hill set her up for the assist late in the 75th minute for the win.
The Blazers put nine shots on goal of 14 shots taken, forcing Union goalkeeper Emily Waggoner to make eight saves.
Forward Rebecca Miller led the effort up front, leading the team in shots (three) and shots on goal (two). But it was Hale's shot that mattered most, the only one she took in the match. She scored in relief for VSU.
Valdosta State will next be in action at Shorter at 2 p.m.
