TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – It did not take long for Florida State’s Dagny Brynjarsdottir to get settled in after missing three games as she was called in to play with the Icelandic Full National team as they qualified for the 2013 UEFA European Women’s Championship.
Brynjarsdottir returned in fine fashion as she tallied a career-high four points on a goal and two assists in leading top-seeded Florida State to a 4-0 victory over eighth-seeded Boston College in the first round of the ACC Women’s Soccer Championship. For her efforts, Brynjarsdottir earned a spot on TopDrawerSoccer.com’s Team of the Week.
The sophomore midfielder gave the Seminoles the early lead as she put away a header from close range just a minute and five seconds into the start of the match. She followed four minutes later with her first of two assists as she found Tiffany McCarty for the score to give FSU a commanding 2-0 lead. Brynjarsdottir added her second assist in the 71st minute finding McCarty once again for the final goal of the game. It marked the Icelandic native’s second career multi-assist game.
Brynjarsdottir and the Seminoles are back in action on Friday, November 2 as Florida State will face Virginia in the semifinals of the ACC Tournament at WakeMed Park in Cary, N.C.
