Bulldogs Hold Indoor Workout at Hotel

Jacksonville, FL - Due to severe weather Sunday morning, the Georgia Bulldogs opted for a two-hour indoor workout at the team hotel.

Georgia coach Mark Richt said preparations for the TaxSlayer.com Gator Bowl game against Nebraska have been going well, and today’s session was like a typical Thursday practice during a game week.

“We cleared out our dining area and had a walk through for the defense while the offense met, then we had a special teams walk through followed by one for the offense while the defense met,” Richt said. “Today was like a dress rehearsal, the first of two we have scheduled for this week. We’ll have another one tomorrow. The only thing we didn’t do that we had scheduled was conditioning and perhaps the guys needed a break. We’ve been going pretty hard. It all worked out.”

Richt added that he’d only be concerned if the team missed two or three days in a row of practicing outside. However, Georgia (8-4) only has one more scheduled practice this week before Wednesday’s game against the Cornhuskers (8-4).

“Sometimes it helps to teach at a slower pace,” Richt said.
Richt was asked about the health of the team, and he said a few players have had a 24-hour bug.

“It has hit the offense, mostly lineman,” Richt said. “I know David Andrews and Todd Gurley are not feeling great and Hutson (Mason) had it a few days ago. They were able to practice through it, and they would’ve played through it too.”

Georgia will be making its 49th appearance in a bowl game this season. The Bulldogs sport a bowl record of 27-18-3. The Bulldogs will battle the Cornhuskers on Jan. 1 at EverBank Field. ESPN2 will televise the game with kickoff slated for noon ET.
