Carrabelle, FL - Carrabelle is hosting the Florida State Dixie Youth Softball Tournament this weekend, the first time the city has been selected for this tournament. Thirty teams from all over the state from five different age divisions made the trip.
Franklin County is being represented in each of those divisions.
"We've got some excellent players out here," Franklin County Softball Coordinator Nikki Mellinder said. "These girls have played their hearts out. They give it 100 percent."
The games are being played at the Will S. Kendrick Sports Complex, which is only three years old. It is equipped with five softball fields.
Mellinder said she'd like to see the Dixie Youth World Series played at the complex some time in the near future.
