Tallahassee, FL - Getting into the NCAA soccer tournament was no surprise. Florida State was ranked number one in the country for almost the entire season. But the Lady 'Noles still held their breath for almost an entire 30 minutes on Monday waiting to hear what seed they would get.
"It was definitely nerve-wracking," senior forward Jessica Price said. "We didn't know where we were gonna be."
Florida State was one of the final two teams announced.
"Once we saw Virginia got a two seed kind of a little sigh of relief come," Price said. "And then we saw the one seed and we were excited and ready to go."
The Lady 'Noles will host the 16th seed Mississippi Valley State this Friday night at seven.
Despite receiving the one seed in their bracket, the Lady 'Noles have lost three of their last five games. They were knocked out in the ACC Semifinals to the eventual champ, Virginia.
"It's a matter of all of us making sure we've done our homework and the players are focused and their level of concentration is good," Head Coach Mark Krikorian said. "And if that's the case, we won't be disappointed."
This will be Krikorian's eighth straight appearance at FSU in the NCAA tournament. But the Lady 'Noles will be advancing for the 13th consecutive year. Last year the 'Noles reached the Final Four.
"We want to give ourselves a chance to get back there, but it won't come if we don't bring our 'A' game everyday," Krikorian said.
