CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. -- A pair of streaks were snapped Wednesday night and in the process the Atlantic Coast Conference's first-place team fell to its last-place team when No. 15/17 Florida State lost to Boston College, 64-60, on the road.
The Seminoles (16-7, 7-2 ACC) had propelled themselves to the top of the league standings over the past month with seven consecutive victories while the last-place Eagles (8-16, 3-7) had lost six in a row before the upset on their home floor.
But Boston College shot 45 percent from 3-point range and FSU shot 39 percent overall and just 25 percent from long distance on its end. The Seminoles go-to guy over winning streak, Michael Snaer, scored a team-high 16 points but he was just 6-of-18 from the floor and had just one 3-point bucket -- a long-range make that came in the final desperate seconds.
Snaer had shot at a 51-percent clip -- including a 57.3-percent mark from 3-point range -- during the seven-game stretch of victories before Wednesday night.
Bernard James added 12 points and seven rebounds while dealing with foul issues all evening. Ian Miller came off the bench to score 12 points.
Florida State only turned the ball over 14 times but the Eagles had just 10 giveaways. FSU also won the battle on the glass by out-rebounding Boston College 32-21 but the home squad accrued 14 assists to the 'Noles' eight.
Boston College entered the game with just one player averaging double figures but finished the contest with four of five starters scoring at least 12 points. Jordan Daniels registered a game-best 19 points while Matt Humphrey scored 15, Ryan Anderson had 14 and Lonnie Jackson added 12.
None of the Eagles bench players scored.
FSU trailed 55-47 at the tail end of a Boston College 9-2 run before trimming that deficit to 55-51 with 5:22 left to play. Back-to-back successful free-throw trips by Miller and Okaro White moved the score to 60-57 in favor of the Eagles with 1:28 left. The Seminoles then had a chance to tie it at 60 apiece but Luke Loucks' long-range 3-pointer fell short.
Florida State now returns home to host Miami on Saturday at 1 p.m. looking to start a new winning streak.

The Noles have to learn that to win they have to be consistent. Every game must be looked at as if it the most important one of the season. Good luck Jim
