Valdosta, GA - January 20, 2013
It's a sad day for a lot football fans in our area. The Atlanta Falcons missed out on a trip to the Superbowl.
"It was a great game. It sucks to lose at home especially on this stage but it was a good game," said Kevin Huet.
"It is what it is. We had a great season," said said Ethan Vick.
"I thought for sure we were going to win but what can you do. At least it was a good game right?" said Ricky Allen.
These Valdosta residents may be more than 200 miles from Atlanta, but the Falcon's shot at a trip to New Orleans for the Super Bowl is bringing them closer together.
The Atlanta Falcons lost to the San Fransisco 49ers 28 to 24 in the NFC Championship Game Sunday. But fans were sure they'd win, especially because at one point Atlanta was up 17 to nothing.
"They crumbled. They did what they did last week but this time they paid the price," said Huet.
And they all know there is always next year.
"Coming up short one more time but we'll be back next year. We've still got Matt Ryan. We'll be back," said Allen.
The 49ers will now play the Baltimore Ravens in the Superbowl February 3rd.
