Tallahassee - The No. 19 Florida State men’s golf team travels to the Lake Jovita Golf and Country Club for the USF Invitational running Sunday through Tuesday. Six Seminoles make the trip to Dade City in search of their first title of the year.
“We have three different players that have top five finishes this year,” said head coach Trey Jones. “We also have too many players with finishes outside the top half of the field. This shows that we have the talent to play well but need to turn each experience into a chance to learn and compete when it does not come easy.”
Florida State is joined by host No. 28 USF, No. 5 Illinois, No. 24 Auburn, No. 39 Mercer, No. 40 Memphis, No. 43 Purdue, Air Force, Charleston, Cincinnati, DePaul, Eastern Michigan, Florida, Marquette, Ohio State, UNC-Greensboro and Wisconsin.
Playing for the Seminoles this weekend are sophomores Hank Lebioda and Rowin Caron joined by redshirt freshman Cristobal Del Solar and freshmen Jack Maguire and Harry Ellis. Playing as an individual is senior Joaquin Lolas.
“We welcome freshman Harry Ellis to the line-up for the first time this year,” continued Jones. “I am looking forward to being part of Harry’s development as the season progresses.”
Joining the team in January, Ellis played as an individual at the Gator Invitational and finished tied for 20th. The team placed second at the Gator Invitational with Lebioda tying for first and Maguire tied for eighth.
