Florida State Prepares With Showdown With Virginia

It's said defense wins championships.

That junk yard style D helped Florida State men's basketball win an ACC titel two years ago. Last season defense struggled, Noles finished .500 in league play. Defense, a strength once again this season, Noles just a game out of first.

Big road test tomorrow. Face Virginia.

The Cavaliers upended the Noles in the conference opener, but FSU held to 32% shooting. The problem, Noles shot worse, 30%.

FSU has won 3 straight while holding opponents under 35% shooting.

In the last two games, FSU red hot from three, hitting 59 percent.

"Anytime you turn the ball over against a good offense like them and a patient team like them it's hard to beat - hard to beat at home or away. So, we have to execute without turning over the ball," FSU Senior Guard Ian Miller said.

"We're hoping that we can recover from the poor showing that we did against Virginia. However, you have to understand, Virginia's an excellent defensive team," FSU Head Coach Leonard Hamilton said.

AT 3-1 FSU in a 3-way tie for second place. Just a game out, the two leadersSyracuse and Pitt square off tomorrow. #23 Duke in the middle of the pack.

Hard to believe North Carolina in the basement, winless in league play.

FSU Virginia, noon tip-off from Charlottesville. Game available on the ACC network.
