Tallahassee, FL -- The Florida State women’s basketball team will look to complete the season sweep of Clemson on Thursday at 7 p.m. at Littlejohn Coliseum in Clemson, S.C.
The game will be televised live on CSS.
The Seminoles (13-15 and 5-9 in the ACC) defeated the Tigers, 59-47, on Jan. 5 in Tallahassee behind 16-point efforts from senior forward Cierra Bravard and junior guard Alexa Deluzio.
The Tigers (6-19, 2-12) were led by post Lindsey Mason, who scored 14 points on 7-of-9 shooting and tallied two blocks.
“Clemson is a much improved basketball team that has a lot of young players that have grown up a lot this season,” Florida State head coach Sue Semrau said. “We go into Clemson and it’s always a very difficult place to play, so we have to continue getting better.”
Mason, a senior, is averaging 2.6 bpg this season, as Clemson is averaging 6.1 swats per game – sixth-best in the nation.
Freshman wing Nikki Dixon has been Clemson’s star this season, leading the team in scoring at 12.9 ppg and capturing ACC Rookie of the Week honors three times.
The Seminoles have won seven straight against the Tigers by an average margin of 19.8 points, and 18 of the last 19 matchups overall.
FSU is looking to end a four-game losing streak, after falling to No. 5 Miami, 67-60, in Coral Gables, Fla., on Sunday. The Seminoles tied the game in the final five minutes, erasing a double-digit deficit, but couldn’t overcome the great play of the Hurricanes’ dynamic backcourt.
Sophomore forward Natasha Howard continued her superb season by tallying 19 points and 15 rebounds on South Beach. She is tied for first in the ACC in double-doubles with 11.
