HS Football Teams Open Spring Practice

Tallahassee - High school football teams in North Florida and South Georgia opened spring practice this week. Leon was the only school from the area to start one week early.

More than a dozen teams made the playoffs last season, but no one came back with a state title. For the seniors, especially, it was heartbreaking. But for the returning players, 2014 is a chance at redemption.

"We are just going to start to do a lot of things with our athletes," said Ronnie Harrison, a rising senior at Florida High. "We have a lot of athletes on offense so we are just gonna start giving them the ball on the outside. We are going to be a real fast team and do a lot of up-tempo this year. I'm gonna be audibling on my own doing a lot of calls so that we get going faster."

"We had a very talented junior varsity last year," Lincoln Head Coach Yusuf Shakir said. "So with those guys coming on up, we're just trying to see if they can play at the tempo and the speed and just try to get them caught up with the speed with everything on this level."
