News Release: Leon High School
TALLAHASSEE, FL, DEC. 11, 2013 - Four top Leon High School football players were recently recognized by the Florida Athletic Coaches Association (FACA). Seniors Brandon Byrd, Ryan Feely, and Kris Lingo, along with Junior D’Anfernee McGriff, were selected by the association of coaches for the FACA All District Team Roster.
Leon kicker Ryan Feely has advanced, receiving an invitation to play in the 59th Annual Florida Athletic Coaches Association North-South Football All-Star Classic, Florida’s only State Football All-Star event. Feely was selected from among the FACA All District roster of players to play on the North Team.
Leon Football Head Coach Tim Cokely was named as the honorary coach of the North Team. Cokely is wrapping up his first year as head coach for the Leon Lions, taking the team to the district playoffs last month.
“It is a real honor to be selected to coach and it will be a good time. Most of all, I am pleased for our players who were recognized. They’ve worked hard this year and it is paying off. Our coaching staff is seeing more and more Leon players getting noticed and scouted,” said Cokely.
The Game will be played on December 21, 2013, at Firemen’s Field in Sebring, Florida. Coach Cokely and Feely will arrive in Sebring earlier in the week to start practicing. For additional information on the North-South Football All-Star Classic, please contact FACA at (850) 727-8117.
