Lincoln High School wide receiver John Burt verbally committed to The University of Texas on Sunday.
The 6'3'' 180lb play maker is going to be a Longhorn after he completes his senior year. Burt said the decision came down between Auburn and Texas.
"I'm real ecstatic, it's been a long process, complicated process you a whole bunch of good schools." said Burt. "Finally made my decision and that's one less thing I have to worry about going into this year, just kind of relaxing. With Texas really, it's the comfort factor, really I have family that lives over there so basically it's like a home away from home. "
At a Nike Event, Burt posted a vertical jump of 34 inches, and ran a 4.59 40 yard dash.
"I felt like Texas was a better choice for me, you know after football and after college. Their academics are really good, they have a history of producing NFL caliber players, not to say Auburn hasn't but Texas just felt more comfortable about my future," said Burt. "I still got another season to play before I get there. I got one step out the way, now I just have to finish this step and you know it's a process."
