New York, NY - Georgia tight end Arthur Lynch and quarterback Aaron Murray were selected with the 155th and 163rd overall picks, respectively, during the 5th round of the 2014 NFL Draft on Saturday afternoon at the Radio City Music Hall in New York City.

Lynch went 155th to the Miami Dolphins before Murray was taken just eight picks later by the Kansas City Chiefs at No. 163. The two players become the 73rd and 74th Georgia players drafted to the NFL in the Mark Richt era and the 303rd and 304th Bulldogs taken all-time.
Lynch, a 6-5, 254-pound tight end from Dartmouth, Mass., appeared in 51 games for the Bulldogs over the course of four seasons, catching 56 passes for 907 yards and 8 touchdowns. In 2013 he was voted to the AP All-SEC First Team and the All-SEC Coaches’ First Team after making 30 receptions for 459 yards and 5 touchdowns in 11 starts.

He becomes the second Georgia tight end (Randy McMichael, 2002) and the eighth Bulldog to be taken by the Dolphins in the history of the draft. Three former Bulldogs—Reshad Jones, Dannell Ellerbe, and Knowshon Moreno—are currently rostered with the Dolphins.
Murray, a 6-1, 208-pound quarterback from Tampa, Fla., spent four seasons as the starting signal-caller for the Bulldogs, amassing SEC records in completions (921), passing yards (13,166), touchdown passes (121), and total offense (13,562) through 52 career starts. Although his senior season ended prematurely with an ACL injury, Murray completed 225 passes for 3,075 yards and 26 touchdowns in 11 starts to earn 2013 AP All-SEC Second Team honors and become the first player in SEC history to throw for 3,000+ yards in four straight seasons.

Murray is the first Georgia quarterback drafted to the NFL since Matthew Stafford was selected first overall by the Detroit Lions in 2009 and is the 13th Georgia quarterback taken all-time in the NFL draft. He is just the third Georgia player ever drafted by the Chiefs, joining Sanders Commings (2013) and Justin Houston (2011) as Bulldogs to be taken by Kansas City. Both Commings and Houston are still on the Chiefs’ roster.
