Gladden, who starred on the Florida State women’s basketball team from 2003-07, passed away on Friday, April 19. She was 27.
Known as “Ice” because of her smooth playing style, Gladden was born May 28, 1985 to David and Frances Gladden. She went onto star in hoops at Orange Park high School before joining the Seminoles.
Gladden was a four-year starter at Florida State and is the only Seminole to capture ACC All-Defensive Team honors three times. Her name dots the FSU record book in nearly every category and sits atop in steals. Gladden holds the FSU record for steals in a career (275) and in a single season (101 in 2004-05). In addition, she was a three-time All-ACC selection and led the Noles in scoring in her junior and senior years, culminating by averaging 13.5 points and leading FSU to its first-ever NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 appearance in 2007.
After graduating from Florida State in 2007 with a degree in Sports Management, Gladden went onto enjoy a successful professional basketball career playing for five years in Poland, Luxembourg, Romania and Serbia.
In 2012, she returned home to start her basketball coaching career. She spent the 2012-2013 season as the assistant coach at Creekside High School in St. Johns, Fla.
