TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The No. 24-ranked Florida State women’s basketball team closes out the regular season against Virginia on Sunday at 1 p.m. at John Paul Jones Arena.
As part of the ACC's Regional Sports Network deal, the game will be televised live on FOX Sports South, FS Carolinas, FS Florida, Comcast SportsNet Mid-Atlantic, FS Tennessee, FS Arizona, FS Prime Ticket, FS Detroit, NESN and on ESPN3.com.
The game will also be broadcast on Seminoles.com.
The Seminoles (21-7 overall, 11-6 in the ACC) have already locked up fourth-place in the conference and a first-round bye in next week’s ACC Tournament after edging past No. 9 Maryland on Thursday night in Tallahassee.
The 72-71 victory was FSU’s ninth ever win over a Top 10 team and the first since 2009. Florida State is one off of its school record with four wins over ranked teams this season.
Senior Chelsea Davis led four Seminoles in double figures with 19 points against the Terrapins. Senior Leo Rodriguez added 16, while senior Alexa Deluzio scored 14 and junior forward Natasha Howard had 11 points and eight boards in the “Senior Night” victory.
Deluzio hit a free throw with seven seconds left that proved to be the final margin. She missed her first two attempts, but got a third try after a lane violation.
Florida State shot 57 percent in the second half.
The Cavaliers (15-13, 7-10) beat FSU twice last season and are led by Ataira Franklin, who leads Virginia in scoring (14.0 ppg), steals (58), blocks (20) and minutes (36.6).
Virginia has lost five straight games and fell 80-59 at NC State on Thursday night despite 23 points from Franklin.
