No. 1 TCC Softball Sweeps No. 10 Santa Fe
Playing for the first time as the FCSAA's No. 1 team, Tallahassee Community College hit the road and swept No. 1 Santa Fe College, 3-2 and 5-1, on Tuesday afternoon.

Gainesville, FL -- Playing for the first time as the FCSAA's No. 1 team, Tallahassee Community College hit the road and swept No. 1 Santa Fe College, 3-2 and 5-1, on Tuesday afternoon.
Pitching was the story for Tallahassee as right-handers Kristyn Barry and Emily Smethurst allowed only five hits combined while teaming up to record 19 strikeouts in the doubleheader.
In the opener, Barry gave up three hits and struck out nine in Tallahassee's 3-2 victory.
Down 2-1, Tallahassee's Kelly Engwall tied the game with a solo homer. The Eagles scored the go-ahead run in the top of the seventh.
Jessica Cavallero drew a leadoff walk then moved into scoring position on a single by Alexis Anderson. After a sacrifice bunt by Amanda Ake advanced the runners to second and third, Cavallero scored on a ground out by Dallas Towns.
Engwall finished 1-for-3 with the home run. Devin Kochergen was 2-for-2 with a double.
In the nightcap, Smethurst pitched a two-hitter and struck out ten in the Eagles' 5-1 triumph.
Engwall continued to have the hot bat, offensively, for Tallahassee, going 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs. Ake was 2-for-2 but reached base four times, scored three runs and doubled.
Tallahassee, winners of seven straight, is now 9-3.
The Eagles will play their home opener on Thursday against St. Johns River State College. Game one of the doubleheader begins at 4 p.m.
