TALLAHASSEE, FL (Dec.4) - FAMU head coach Clemon Johnson went deep into his bench, allowing several players valuable time on the floor as they handily defeated the Edward Waters College Tigers 87-69, here tonight at the Al Lawson Center. In the end, nine Rattlers saw significant action tonight.
The Rattlers had five players to score in double figures. Jamie Adams, led the team in scoring with 18 points, followed by Reggie Lewis with 17. Jamari Bradshaw contribute 15 points, Muhammad Abdul-Aleem chipped in 14 and Markee Teal scored 11 to round out the Rattlers in double figures. In addition, Jakari Bush and Trey Kellum, each got 18 minutes of plying time in the game. Bush spent time directing the offense at point guard, while Kellum was active in the post, throwing down a slam dunk near the ned of the second half.
The Tigers played the Rattlers close in the first half as Nathaniel Hill scored a game-high 21 points to lead all socrers. Dylan Watts hit 5 and Odayne Clarke scored 14 to round out the trio of Tigers in double figures.
The Rattlers shot 42.4-percent from the field in the first half, but tightened the wrench, going 19-30 (63.3-percent) in the second half. They finished the game shooting 52.4-percent from the field.
The statistic that coach Johnson would like to improve on is the turnovers. The Rattlers committed 14 turnovers in the game. The timeliness of which kept the Tigers in the game for the first portion of the second half.
Another sore point for the Rattlers was free throw shooting. As a team the Rattlers shot 67-percent. A highlight for the Rattlers were their points off turnovers. The Rattlers outscored the Tigers 29-19 in that category, along with the bench outscoring EWC as well 23-4.
