Tallahassee, FL -- Four years ago, Leonor Rodriguez was a freshman, in a new country, playing a new style of basketball.
"I had to adjust to the culture, to game and everything," says Rodriguez. "They had to adjust to me."
Now the senior is one of the leaders on the team.
"I think now she's established herself as one of the key members on the team," says head coach Sue Semrau.
"I think Leo had to cope and adjust so much over her four years at Florida State because she came here, she played a lot slower game, wasn't used to the fast, explosive ACC play from overseas," adds senior forward Chasity Clayton.
Leonor was forced to sit out almost half of her season her first year with Florida State. Since then she never averaged more than five points per game in a single year. This year she's leading the Seminoles in scoring with close to 16 points per game.
"My shots are going in right now."
"I can't say that I did expect it," adds Semrau. "I'm very thrilled. It couldn't happen to a better player. The reward that she's seeing from all the hard work."
The hard work not just spent at Florida State, but every summer, when she travels back to Spain to play in international three on three tournaments.
"It reminds me of who I am and where I come from and what's my style of game. Then when I come here I can bring that European style I like."
