Seminole Baseball Summer Wrap-Up

With the fall semester quickly approaching, here’s a final look at how the Seminoles performed in their summer leagues around the country.

Dylan Silva finished the season well for the Peninsula Oilers of the Alaska Baseball League. He went 2-0 in his final five appearances with seven strikeouts over that stretch. Silva earned almost identical wins on July 16 against the Alaska Goldpanners and on July 26 against the Anchorage Glacier Pilots with a perfect 1.0 IP and three batters faced in each. The Oilers also won each game by a score of 3-2. Overall, Silva finished with a 2-1 record, 7.10 ERA, 12.2 IP, nine walks and 16 strikeouts. He allowed an earned run in only three of his 11 appearances.

DJ Stewart led the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox of the Cape Cod League in RBI (25), was second in doubles (11) and tied for second on the team in stolen bases (8). He finished with a .274 average (34-for-124), four home runs and 20 runs scored. Stewart was also named to the Cape League All-Star Game and helped lead the Eastern Division to a 9-3 victory over the West on July 27.

As members of the Amsterdam Mohawks, John Nogowski and John Sansone were champions of the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League. The Mohawks finished the season 31-16 and defeated the Elmira Pioneers in the PGCBL Championship Series. For the season, Nogowski batted .365 (54-for-148) in 44 games with 14 doubles and three home runs. He also added 24 RBI, 29 walks and 33 runs scored. Sansone finished with 38 games played, a .288 average (36-for-125), three home runs, 20 runs scored and 23 RBI.
