Seminole Spotlight: On the Road

Tallahassee, FL - Florida State dealt NC State a 34-0 loss last year in Doak Campbell Stadium. But now they have to deal with the confines of Carter-Finley Stadium in Raleigh, NC.

It's an environment the 'Noles have been in before. Fans breathing on top of you, chanting ringing through your ears.

"That loud crowd noise almost helps you block everything out and focus in on what you're doing, more than silence I think," senior kicker Dustin Hopkins said.

Last week's road win against South Florida in Tampa wasn't so much a road game considering it was a four hour drive away and about a half hour flight.

"I think the guys are just real excited to get on a real road game as opposed to like a 50 percent crowd and enjoying having our backs against the wall and being against the world," Hopkins said.

To get ready the 'Noles have practiced this week with crowd noise.

"The big thing is the craziest sounds, the whispering you'd be shocked how much that helps," Head Coach Jimbo Fisher said. "Because you know what it makes guys do? Quit taking things for granted. They have to pay attention."

And they have to pay attention to quarterback Mike Glennon who threw for a career-high 440 yards last week.

"I was texting him Saturday night telling him I'll see him this weekend," senior quarterback EJ Manuel said. "He said 'yeah, we're gonna get the upset.' I was like, 'okay, I'll let my guys know.' And so I told them yesterday and it went over well."

Perhaps enough motivation to silence the Wolves.

"Just go out there and do what you do," Manuel said. "You gotta stay focused on the game because you're not playing the crowd, you're playing the team in front of you."
