Tallahassee, FL -- The Chicago Cubs, on Tuesday, drafted Tallahassee Community College baseball signee Rashad Crawford in the 11th round of Major League Baseball's First-Year Player Draft.

Crawford, the 344th overall pick in the draft, was the 13th player selected by the Cubs.

The switch-hitter just wrapped up a stellar prep career at Mundy's Mill High School in Clayton, Ga., where he was named the Region 4-AAAA Player of the Year. Crawford batted .507 with three home runs, 15 RBI and 22 stolen bases while playing third base, although he projects as a centerfielder at the collegiate level.

Tallahassee head coach Mike McLeod sees similarities between Crawford and former Eagle centerfielder Lorenzo Cain, now a member of the Kansas City Royals.

Said McLeod, "He's very similar (to Cain), only a little more advanced at this stage."

Crawford is the highest-drafted player with TCC ties since the Cleveland Indians took Jeremie Tice in the sixth round in 2008.
