Carollton, GA - TU Women's Soccer (5-1-1) and NCAA D2 University of West Georgia (2-3-1) played to a 2-2 draw on Sunday afternoon in Carrollton, GA.
Sophomore forward Jenny Hernandez gave TU the lead in the 23rd minute of the first half when she knocked home an unassisted goal. At the 35:42 mark of the half UWG tied the game on a shot from the top of the 18 yard box.
Less than five minutes later, freshman midfielder Mackenzie Dolan gave the lead back to the Lady Night Hawks with an unassisted goal of her own.
The teams combined for 14 shots in a back and forth opening 45 minutes. West Georgia tied the game only 3:59 into the second half and outshot the Lady Night Hawks 6-2 in the game's final half. TU and UWG battled the remainder of the second and twenty minutes of overtime without either being able to break through with the game winner.
Thomas will now shift their focus to the opening of play in the Sun Conference. TU will travel to North Miami Beach, FL to face Johnson & Wales University on Friday September 21 at 4PM in the programs first ever conference match up.
