VALDOSTA, Ga. – Senior middle blocker Tania Tauiliili brought home Valdosta State’s first Gulf South Conference Player of the Week award of the season. She was named the GSC Defensive Player of the Week for her performance in a three-match home stand against conference opponents Shorter, Alabama-Huntsville and West Georgia.
The senior from Watkinsville, Ga., was at the net for 12 total blocks, two of which were solo, to lead the Blazers. She also added 12 digs in 11 sets, a high number for any middle blocker.
Her most complete effort of the week came in a sweep of West Georgia. Tauiliili tallied five kills, six blocks, three digs and three service aces.
She finished the week with 23 kills and just seven errors for a .308 attacking percentage.
For the season, Tauiliili is currently third in the conference in blocks (29) and ninth in attacking percentage (.270).
