Miami, FL - Jacob Turner pitched a seven-hitter Saturday for his first complete game in 19 career starts, helping the Miami Marlins beat the San Diego Padres 7-1.
The complete game was the first for the Marlins this year. They had been outscored 20-3 while losing their first four games to San Diego this season, but the lowest-scoring team in the majors gave Turner a 6-0 lead after four innings.
Giancarlo Stanton hit his eighth home run, Jeff Mathis had two RBIs and Placido Polanco became the 22nd active player to score 1,000 runs.
Turner (2-0) struck out seven, walked one and threw 111 pitches, 77 for strikes. The right-hander lowered his ERA to 1.76 in six starts since being recalled from Triple-A.
