Tallahassee, FL - Chris Rix and Kyler Hall teamed up one more time, just like their days at Florida State. But at Rix's football camp, they were the coaches, not the players.
"When I had a vision to come back and do a camp for the kids here in Tallahassee I thought who better than to do it with Coach Hall," Rix said.
"We see each other about once a year maybe and we try to keep in touch throughout the year, but it's always great to give back with your former teammates," Hall said.
To relive yesteryear no the gridiron, the former Seminoles put the campers through the same drills they went through at FSU.
"We'll do some of the combine drills that you see at the NFL Combine and run some 40 and pro agility," said Hall, who is Maclay's head football coach. "We'll get to some individual specfic drills and have the kids break up into their positions and just teach them the fundamentals."
"We're focusing on character," said Rix, who lives in California.
"Learning the importance of humility and that it's not just about who you are on the field, but more importantly who you are off the field. And I kind of had a crash course learning that through my college career."
And the former Seminoles hope the kids at the camp will take that next step.
"Coaches who have imparted things in us like Coach Bowden and Coach Mickey Andrews we're able to carry on that legacy and pass it on to the next generation," Rix said.
