ORLANDO, Fla. (Jan 5.) - The Florida A&M Men’s Basketball team dropped their fifth straight as UCF handed the Rattlers a, 99-69 defeat here Saturday afternoon at UCF Arena.
FAMU (4-11) had three Rattlers to score in double figures as Reggie Lewis scored a team high 13 points, followed by Jomari Bradshaw with 11 and Muhammad Abdul-Aleem with 10. D’Andre Bullard led the Rattlers on the board with four, while Jamie Adams dished an out a team high four assists.
UCF (10-4) had four Knights to score in double figures as Isaiah Sykes scored a game high 22 points, followed by Tristian Spurlock and Keith Clanton as they both scored 15 points each and Calvin Newell with 11. Both Clanton and Sykes and led UCF on the boards with six each and Daiquan Walker dished out a game high six assists.
The Knights opened the first stanza with a 15-4 lead as Spurlock connected on a three pointer with 15:55 to go in the first. UCF would then extend their lead to 37-14 on a Staphon Blair layup with 7:55 to go in the half, capping a 22-10 run by the Knights.
FAMU would go into the break trailing UCF, 55-28 as the Rattlers finished the first half shooting 40.7 percent (11-of-27) from the floor, while the Knights shot 72.4 percent (21-of-29).
In the second half, the Rattlers would cut the Knights’ lead to 62-36 on a Bradshaw field goal with 16:43 to go in the game that would be the closes that FAMU would get as the Rattlers would score 41 second half points to the Knights, 44.
The Rattlers finished the game shooting 50.0 percent (28-of-56), while the Knights shot 57.6 percent (34-of-59). UCF held the rebounding advantage over FAMU, 35-22.
FAMU will return to Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference action on Saturday, January 12 as the Rattlers will welcome North Carolina Central to the Al Lawson Center in a 6 p.m. start.
