The Valdosta State Blazers made it to the Division II National Championship game for the second time in three years. West Texas A&M stood in their way as the Buffaloes took the championship, defeating the Blazers 3-2 Monday afternoon at Moyer Sports Complex.

VSU pitcher Brianna Hancock only gave up one hit through seven innings, until West Texas A&M hit a lead-off double to right center field.

A walk would put two runners on base, and with two outs, Brittany Gehle hits a home run to put the Buffaloes up 3-0.

The Blazers had one last chance in the bottom of the seventh inning. Morgan Butler gave a glimpse of hope after a solo home run to cut the lead down to two. Heather Robinson followed with another home run to bring VSU within one run. A strikeout would follow to end the game and the season for the Blazers, as they lose 3-2.

West Texas A&M's Rita Hokianga finished the year at 29-3 as she allowed four hits and two runs while striking out eight in a complete game.
