Valdosta State Golf Remains 16th at NCAA Regional

HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. - For the second straight round, Valdosta State shot a 307 to remain 16th after the second day of play at the NCAA South/Southeast Super Regional at the par 72, 6,928 yard Mission Inn Resort and Club Tuesday.

Nova Southeastern took the two-round lead as it shot a 284 to stand at five-under-par at 571. Barry was second, nine shots back, while Georgia College was third at 586. Florida Southern finished the day fourth at 588 and Lynn rounded out the top five at 594.

West Florida and Columbus State tied for sixth at 596 while USC-Aiken was eighth at 598 and Barton had a two-round total of 599 for ninth. Rollins was a stroke back in 10th while North Alabama was 11th at 603 while Georgia Southwestern had a 607.

Armstrong Atlantic, Eckerd and Belmont Abbey tied for 13th at 611 while Florida Tech was three strokes behind VSU in 17th. Erskine (619), Lincoln Memorial (624) and Mount Olive (625) rounded out the field.

John Fordham paced Valdosta State through the two runs as he shot a 76 to stand tied for 31st with a five-over 149. Nate Anderson was a shot behind and tied for 39th after shooting 75 on Tuesday while Clarke Hendrick, who also shot a 75, was tied for 57th at 153. Abdul Sihag (83) was tied for 98th at 164 and Drew McGuire (81) was tied for 101st at 165.

The tournament concludes with a single round of play on Wednesday.
