WCTV: Tallahassee, Florida- July 25, 2012
For seven years the name Elton Gumbel has gone hand in hand with WCTV Sports. But he's passing off the baton --- taking his final lap --- shooting his last shot --- and sliding in at home plate.
Today we say goodbye and good luck to our beloved EG.
"We all know that Elton is smart and smooth but what you may not know about Elton is he's really funny."
WCTV Anchors and Reporters had a lot to say about Elton:
Weather Anchor, Mike McCall: “Crafty...Particularly I'll miss his abuse of James Buechele.”
Nightside Anchor, Angelica Alvarez: “He's taped all my things to my desk...He's locked me in an edit bay.”
Anchor/Reporter, Deneige Broom: “He's fake-locked me in a closet. Don't ask...He scares people a lot.”
Noon Anchor, Shonda Knight: “One word to describe Elton...Prankster. I say Elton is a prankster but I've worked with a lot of people and he's genuinely one of the sweetest people I know.”
News Director, Triston Sanders: “Technology doesn't scare the great Elton Gumbel."
Says Lee Gordon with 180 Consulting: "I know you're going to be missed at WCTV but their loss is my gain. I know that didn't sound very good did it?"
Elton will now be working with Lee at 180 Consulting in Tallahassee.
Not only are we going to miss Elton on air, we're really going to miss Elton off air.
So, in the words of our EG…”Have a great rest of the day."
